Priest Preaching from a Pulpit
From the Pulpit
Rev'd Hall

Our mission

The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission.

Our mission in the Shropshire and Marches Circuit is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul and mind, and to love our neighbour as ourselves by the power of the Holy Spirit in our large and rural community.

With God's help we aim to:

be aware of the differing needs of all our congregations and be prepared to adapt in order to offer mutual nurture and support

be aware of the needs of our Ministers, Lay workers and Local preachers and encourage them in their calling and mission

be aware of the needs of our local neighbourhoods and be witnesses for Jesus Christ within them

accept our responsibility towards the natural world by consciously caring for God's creation

be vocal in our commitment to inclusivity, ensuring our churches are places where all are welcome regardless of gender, race, sexuality, or any other issue which might be considered a barrier

so that we may unite as a Circuit in enabling the worship of God, and be a loving, effective and constantly evolving Methodist presence in our communities.

Prayer of the day

A prayer that we may see God in others

Teach us, Lord, to seek your face in those who think they are faceless; your word among those who are voiceless; and your transforming presence among those who feel powerless. Draw us to yourself that we may be active contemplatives in the heart of your world, discovering afresh the presence of Jesus wherever it is disguised and honouring you in the face of the neighbour, the lowly appearance of bread and wine, and the walk of daily service, that we might follow where you lead and respond with warmed hearts and active hands. Amen.

Inspired by Mother Teresa of Calcutta and Karl Rahner
